How can I have a site with a PR 0 in google but the link popularity is:

    Google 3
    AlltheWeb 3,230
    Yahoo! 2,750
    AltaVista 2,740
    MSN 492

    Total 9,215

    Just wondering.

Because PR reporting is screwed (check all datacentres if you can). Or you're banned. Or you have missed the last update and your site is fairly new.

(PS PayPalling you tomorrow, damn update takes ages...)

Toolbar PRr are updated quarterly. Your true PR isn't zero. You just can't see it right now on toolbar. Don't worry too much about toolbar PR. a large # of backlinks from different sites is what makes the difference in SERPs.

    It is fairly new, thanks.

Does that mean it will have a good ranking when google does its magical ranking again?

Ranking is updated daily. So unless your site is new, and sandboxed, you're already ranking where you belong.

Whether you'll go up or down depends on your KWs, competition, and to what extent you're satisfying the algo's criteria.

Is PageRank still relevant for link building? It seems like it hasn't been updated for ages. In fact, backlinks don't seem to have been updated for ages.

If a site is indexed in all other search engines, and shows low (but SOME) backlinks in Google, everything is okay.

Don't get caught up with the numbers and pagerank with Google. They INTENTIONALLY try to deceive people about a site's true standing.

PR0 could be because of your site being banned in Google....

my thinking stems from the fact that your website if new and you already have so many links....Burst Link Strategy could be in the play...

Google values back links but also gives credit to content, title etc
