This is a question i've wondered for a while

If you're paying an SEO company say 10,000 a month to optimize your site roughly what percentage of that would you say they pump into a paid linking campaign?

My guess would be around 25% but it's just a guess - does anyone have any info on an average?

$10,000 a month? Are a lot of companies paying that type of money? If so, what type of results are typical? That sounds like a ton (but I don't have a web business, just a humor site).

You'd be very surprised. If you can expect an ROI of 200% it's pretty much a no brainer.

    Hi,
Our company does not normally take a percentage of our fee and pay for links from it unless it is an experiment. We usually have our clients pay for clicks directly and our management (brain power :) fee is seperate. This saves our clients money and lets us pay for the time and effort it takes to run a successful campaign and keep the web pages properly optimized.

That said, 20% - 25% is acceptable if they're getting the kind of results you are looking for.

Depending on the size of your website I'd recommend seeing if you can pay for clicks and seperate the retainer.

    Hope this helps.
