Im a newbie to adwords, just 2 days now, and this place is just great, just by reading other peoples questions and replys i have figured out so much more, better techniques, ways to split campaigns etc Anyways, my question is this. Lets say my website sold a multiple of items where people could buy (it doesnt), it doesnt actually sell anything, it supplys a service but this will help with my query. I woudnt have just one campaign with all the sell things would I ! Like buy mobile phones buy xbox games buy ps2 games buy aeroplanes buy model cars buy train tickets Would all these be in the same campaign but different groups.. Like say 10 - 20 keywords related to buy mobile phones in one group, 10 - 20 keywords for buy aeroplanes in another group and so on.... Would that would be the most sensible way to do it. So all your ad statements related to the search text ad ? Or is there no problem with having them all in one group and just basically having one text ad that mentions your website and what it does ?
Of course it's a lot better making different ad groups for different themes so you can emphasize within your ad the special product you have for the relevant keyword(s). Only very similar keyword should share the same ad group.
Ok thanks for the info webyp & chicago, much appreciated One last thing, i myself dont know if this is a fault or not with google, but i had a campaign going. and with a few certain keywords i was doing very well and placed in the sponsored links direct at top. A few days i decided to lower the cpc, and in the adwords campaign area it says Avg Pos 5.9, 7.0 and so on. But im still placed exactly where i was a few days ago with those keywords, in the sponsored link area at top, and posistion #1, #2, #3 on the right hand side. I knew by reducing the cpc i was not going to be 5.9, 7.0 etc but why does google say this ? Thanks
Pretty much the only thing their tools predict with a decent level of accuracy is current competition levels...and even that can change 10 minutes after you look at the data.
