I just wondered, say for example you have a website, not all pages are indexed just now, and you wanted to post some articles out there on the web, ones you had on your own website for your own users to see. How do you stop getting hit for duplicate content, when the articles out there first are indexed first. And I guess this question applies to everything, articles, press releases, reviews, stories etc Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
bacardirum, My understanding of duplicate content is that the same content on multiple websites is not considered as duplicate content by the search engines. But if you post it twice on your own website (i.e. the same article in your news and your press release section) then that would be considered as duplicate. So from my point of view, what you are doing (i.e. posting the same article on many, many independent websites) is not considered as duplicate content and will not count "negatively" against you. Any other opinions about this one?
It will be a clear case of duplicate content since your content would be available for others to view n publish and infact would definitely put some -ve.. Your best bet would be to create seperate articles for submission, or perhaps, keep the articles on your own domain only and use them as nice link baits to get backlinks..
Thanks for the replys, what I am not understanding is, is there not a way where I can say, this is my article, so its not duplicate content when its on my site, and its stilll getting spread about the internet to where I submit to. Afterall dont these people who post good content on there own site, encourage others to share it with others, so how come they can do it. Sorry I just need to try and find out how this works
