Question regarding Supplement index

I have recently brought a site that has over 100K pages indexed but when I do the site:www.XXXX.com command on Google, it doesnt show my Homepage . It just shows one result which is in Supplement Index and it seems that all the remaining 100K+ pages are also.

I have got high PR links to it(PR6) but its been nearly a month and still no index page when I use the site: search.

Before when I search for the www.XXXXXX.com , the homepage was on position 43 . After a month of link building, its back as no.1 when searching for the domain name.

So it seems that it isnt banned .... I am a bit lost on whats wrong.

Its an article site so maybe duplicate content but surely the homepage should still be showing via the site: comamnd search.

Any pros encoutered this problem before?

    Thanks in advance

The supplemental problem can affect any website with that many pages. How original is the content on the 100,000 pages?

I think most is duplicate as I believe it takes a feed from one of those article publishing services, ....

If most pages in Supplement, it woul affect non duplicate pages like Homepage too? ... like a site wide punishment?

But usually, when I put something like site:digitalpoint.com into Google search , the homepage comes up.... however in this case .. the results only show supplement pages....

My homepage is nowhere to be seen.... although I know its indexed.

supplemental results are pages that are filtered by Google in which each pages contain similar/duplicate content

Thx for the response, but I think I should rephrase my question.

Does the site pages being in Supplement index, affect its homepage position when using the site:www.site.com search?

I realise that webpages are supposedly put into supplement index for lack of backlinks, duplicate content, etc.

However, if using the site: search, the first result isnt the homepage, but rather another supplement page from the site.... could this be another problem?

I have seen some interesting movement on this site for Google today, but seeminly still in Supplements and no Homepage to be found.

    Thanks,

    Matt

I believe SEOSURAT already answered your question...sometimes when you have a site with so much duplicate pages the entire site gets penalized.....Think about how spammy your site looks...100,000 plus pages of duplicate content and one original page...why should they trust that one page?

All you need is fresh content with all new meta... and increase backlinks for each page... and than wait for next crawl.... Keep patience after doing this it may take long time... but this time make sure that you dont go for any copy content...
