Question regarding SEO and Google results for niche

Discussion in 'Search Engine Optimization' started by sh0tgun, Aug 9, 2010.

If I do a search in Google for my niche with quotes (") it returns 22,700 results
However, when I do a search without quotes there are 28,000,000 results

My question is, is it extremely unlikely to get on to page 1 if you search without quotes, judging from the 28 million results as opposed to 22700 with quotes?

According to Market Samurai, all the results on page 1 for search without quotes have less than 50 backlinks pointing to them.

    Thanks

I reached first position of 167M results 3 days after google indexed my site, for the words "serious reviews". (Site no longer exists)
So it's not impossible as long as the competition for the word is not that high.

Quotes means exact. You will get the actual numbers when you use Google's Adwords Keyword tool. I would encourage you to go there and play around with it to get the hang of it. I wouldn't pay too much attention to the broad (without quotations) numbers as they don't really represent much of anything in my opinion.

The answer to getting to the first page on 28 million results is obvious, your not going too unless of course everyone in that niche has no idea what their doing with SEO and have registered their domain that week, etc etc. I will give you a tip, before you buy a domain or look to attack a niche, you will need to do a lot of research.

There are various programs out there to help you, but one thing you will have to remember is, they won't do your work for you. What I mean by that is you need to still figure out the best way to go about attacking a niche and actually doing it.

With MS you definitely can find some holes in niches, and it thye only have 50 bls then you shoudl jump on it and see what happens.

    Hi,

I usually search using allintitle, for example, if your keyword is - ball juggling, then you type allintitle:ball juggling
It gives competition result, anything below 100,000 is good, but a result below 30,000 or therabouts, you should be able to rank for
Some people have other numbers they reccommend using allintitle, but it also depends on your domain name, for example, if your keyword is
in your domain name, like www.balljuggling.com, thats makes it more favourable for you

This doesn't sound like though competition. If you tell me your KW and let me have a look at your site could give you some recommendations. Somtimes a good onpage optimization and a few good links can do the job. I have sites ranking for 2 word KWs 150million competition without and 630.000 with quotes with good optimisation and just about 20 good links, just as an example. Don't be too afraid for the big numbers.
