Hi I have an old script for one of my websites that stopped being updated around 2016. I was wondering at which point i can if i have updated the script myself so much that i can say it's my own and can sell it as a script myself? the script itself for front end is my own and the adminpanel is a free release script for backend.
It's important to consider the terms and conditions of the original script and any third-party libraries or components that were used in creating the script. If the original script was released under an open source license, you may be able to modify and sell it as your own. However, if the script was released under a proprietary license or included proprietary components, you may not be able to sell it as your own without permission from the original copyright holder.
I agree with @UpgradeIT.ro but consider also the cost of suing you, especially if you are in a different country! and for you to defend yourself. Consider the risks before you move ahead.
I would agree, check the license of the script. Even some more strict open source licenses won't allow you to sell the script without open sourcing the changes you made.
