hey DP'ers Question...i've got a friend who has got a 3 year old domain. The domain has had backlinks for a few years...around 300 etc...but its showing no page rank at all. I've checked the serps and its listed in a few keywords...so itsnot banned but it just doesnt seem to have any pagerank. I've checked the various DC's and all are zero. Any ideas?? Is this a penalty of sorts??
Impossible to say without seeing the URL.. let us know it and im sure there will be an explanation Most likely the quality of backlinks.
Has it always been without PageRank? Or just today? Because Google is currently in the midst of updating PageRank, and that could be the reason - many times PR resets to zero temporarily before being updated. best, Denise
Have the person make sure there are no cannonical issues, i.e., redirect domain.com to www.domain.com and make sure all navigation links point to www.domain.com and not domain.com/index.html or Google will attribute duplicate content to the home page.
hey everyone! I've checked out both the http and the www and neither have PR and they never have had it either. I know that alot of DC's have been zeroed due to the update but the thing is that this domain has not ever obtained a page rank. I'm thinking that it has to be the link quality etc but even bad link quality has a tiny amount of link juice. Anyway, i'm a bit cautious to post the actual URL as its not mine but I might PM one of you here. Cheers Jryan54
It was probably banned for some reason, maybe it is on a server ip and the whole ip was banned for spamming or soemthing. Even one PR2 or PR3 backlink should get you a PR1 so if it has never had a PR then it must be banned, just my educated guess.
