I understand that traffic is the most important aspect of making money from affiliates, but is there anything else about how the banners and links are placed on the website that will help it convert? Is it just any kind of space, embedding in content, or something else? Or is it a trial and error process? I'm just wondering about the technical aspects of getting people interested enough to click.
Good position is a must and also if you do a review about the product that the link goes to then it may help to convert a click to a sale. That's if you are promoting an individual product of course.
If you have an AdSense account, you may want to take a look at the 'Google Heat Map', available in the AdSense Help Center. It's specific to AdSense, but I think it's probably pretty applicable to advertising in general. HTH, Sam
john269, a product review is what I thought of first, but what if you've never used the product before? And what if their shopping experience at the shop isn't ideal? Doesn't that take away from the credibility of your site? Sam, thanks for the info, I rearranged my ads today. Let's see if I'll do better than the nada I got yesterday.
