question regarding hosting

I have a domain registered with GoDaddy, and hosted on Hostgator, this is all brand new. I changed the nameservers on godaddy yesterday and now i can access my cpanel (on hostgator) via www.mydomain.info/cpanel, before I had to type in the ip/cpanel. So I think this means that the nameservers have propogated. But the thing is that i have a subdomain on my domain, which I created via hostgator, and I installed wordpress into it.

    There are two problems

    1. whenever I type in www.mydomain.info or www.subdomain.domain.info it goes to the directory list, I'm not sure how to make it go directly into the wordpress blog.

    2. Before the nameservers propogated I was at least able to go to my directory list and click on the wordpress folder and it would open my wordpress account, now when I go through the directory list and click on hostgator it simply goes to the error 404 page.

Did you make sure that when you created the subdomain that you set it to point to the folder with wordpress in it.

I am not sure about the wordpress script, but you might also have to change a setting about its URL but you might not.

So make sure that if wordpress is here:

    /public_html/wordpress

That when you add the subdomain you make it point to that exact folder.

thanks for the reply, but as you can probably tell I'm very new, this is my first domain, and I'm actually not even sure how to make it point to that directory. Would you mind tell me where I would go from cpanel?

Ok, first of go to the subdomain part of cPanel and completely remove the subdomain you created.

Now go back to the subdomain bit to create a subdomain. You should see where you type the name of the subdomain (subdomain.domain.com), fill that in. Below that it should say "Document Root:" and right now it should point to "/public_html/subdomain", you need to change this to "/public_html/yourblog" so that it points to your blog.

It might be easier for me if I knew your domain etc. So if you are able to could you please post or PM me with your domain, you current blog address and the subdomain you want to make and I can describe it better.

the subdomain I'm using for this particular blog is cruises.top-spot.info

I'm not quite sure what exact url I should redirect the subdomain to? not just the folder right? It has to be a page url (ie. .html)
