I am competing for a keyword phrase that shows low traffic and average competition with googles adword tool, but it gets almost 500k results when you type it in...i have seen other skewed ones where it shows it has zero adword tool competition but many results when you type it in. Are these correlated in any way? Does adword competition simply mean how many people are bidding on it, and not how many are trying to win the keyword? Can you tell the keyword competition through this tool, or the serps, cause I see a difference here.
When searching in google, make sure to use "". This cool site and "this cool site" will have much different results and will help give you an idea into how competitive it is. Analyze the 1st page results websites - look at backlinks, age, etc. Look at the paid ads - any reputable names? All this will help you determine how competitive a keyword is. Good luck!
I know the " " part, but I wanted to know about the google adwords tool competition tool. First bar shows traffic, second shows competition. Now I have seen some on their with avg traffic, mid green bar, with avg competition, but not many search results. Is this even possible? When evaluating this should I look at what the tool is telling me or the SERPS? thx
adwords is trying to calculate the nearest traffic for that keyword. i prefer to believe the adwords keyword tool
