I am about to register a domain name and would like to know whether it is true that if you register a domain like mysite.co.nz for people who search my site in New Zealand mysite.co.nz will be one of the top results without much SEO? and also if mysite.co.nz is taken would it be worth purchasing my-site.co.nz?
It is better to purchase both and then make redirect from one to another. Both have their own merits and demerits. Read these http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=825922 http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=821189
For country specific search .nz extension would certainly rate better than .com in New Zealand. So you are right, bit of SEO without much effort out there!! Cheers GS
I agree. Also I've actually sold a couple .com's to companies or people in New Zealand who owned the co.nz and not the .com.
I agree for the most part. If you are gonna work to brand something, you might as well spend a few more bucks a year to help protect your web identity.
A co.nz will help with your rankings in local search but it's not a magic bullet, if your niche has any competition you will still have to work for it!
