Question regarding conversions????????

    Hello,

I am not very clear on conversions.
From what i have come across that adwords has a higher conversion rate
than other ppc engines and from my understanding a conversion is the
click behavior whether it results in a purchase or sending of email
etc and also it does this by using cookies when the user arrives on
    the conversion page.

So does it not depend on the individual user what they want to do
after the click the text Ad? If the conversion is as i have descirbed
above and I have a similar number of clicks, impressions, similar
costs per bid on my text Ad on both google and yahoo ppc's then how is
determined that adwords has a higher conversion rate than other ppc
engines? This is what is confusing me.

I was going through some article detailing differences between the
two. Below i have included the part where the article compares the
    conversion rate.

Now yahoo shows 1037 clicks and google 1557 clicks, yet yahoo has 3
conversions and google has 13. But what i want to know doesn't
conversions depend on the users click behaviour?

Yahoo can simply have 50% conversions based on the number of clicks, I mean the way i see it as a random thing depending on what the user intends to do.

    Yahoo:
    1037 clicks
    19 879 impressions
    5.2% CT rate
    $0.34 cost per click
    3 conversions
    0.30% conversion rate

    Google:
    1557 clicks
    35 348 impressions
    4.4% CT rate
    $0.45 cost per click
    13 conversions
    0.84% conversion rate

It seems there is more than just click behaviours.
    Please help.

    Thank-you!

Conversions doesn't depend on your PPC program.

Conversions depend on your keywords, ads and landing page. That's it.

You mention that Conversions depend on keywords, ads and landing page. I thought it was the quality score that depended on all those things.

I understand that conversions does not depend on the ppc engine but if you have exactly the same text ad, keywords, landing page on both adwords or yahoo SM then why do these comparisons always mention that google has the highest conversion and yahoo the worst conversion system.

I mean i can understand that if you were comparing adwords to a smaller ppc engine like goclick. Adwords has more customers therefore more clicks and resulting in higher conversions. But if comparing adwords to yahoo SM then both are competitve and both will give similar results as i had mentioned in first message.

Quality score is for keywords, and you will have it "Great" if everything in your campaign is relevant.

Adwords has much bigger traffic than Yahoo.

Yahoo goes second after Adwords, that's why people often compare these two programs.

With everything remaining the same ( campaigns, ads, landing pages etc etc ) Google always has a better conversion than Yahoo.... and the simple explanation i have for it is .... dat Google users are more net savvy n therefore more likely to make a purchase online... whereas yahoo clicks are mostly curiosity clicks or by people looking for information ...... rather than a mindset to make a purchase ( just an assumption ) bcoz even i have experienced this.

I don't know where did you get that information from, but that's completely wrong.

As I said before, Adwords or Yahoo it's doesn't affect conversions. If you go for not popular PPC programs, then YES, I agree you will see big difference in conversions.

But if you compare Adwords and Yahoo, it's all about how you structure your campaigns and of course, the product has to be good.

There is a HUGE difference between adwords and yahoo. They are two different audiences, so what may work on adwords may not work on yahoo. You can't really compare conversions because while one product or service may work better on adwords, another may convert better on yahoo...
