First of all...my appoligies if this is not the correct place to post this. Mods, please feel free to move it.

I have a few upcoming projects that will need a brand new design. I will want the designs as a layered psd file. No coding is needed.

How much should I give for the contest prize?

To tell the truth, the prize is what ever you want, but if you still aren't sure, try looking at previous contests that seem similar to your upcoming ones, then try to calculate a prize from there.

I have looked at previous contests but they are all over the place...and there really isn't that many template design contests compared to everything else. This is why I'm posing the question.

doing a template contest the prize has to be highish for people to enter. cant see the point really. specially when your competing with 15 others for the prize. but hey, if the prize is high enough you wlll get some good entries. to answer your question id say for a whole site design i think recent prizes have been over $125

Lately, banners+logos have been ridiculously cheap, and quality has seem to have gone down. I'm going to say over 125 dollars for a template. Keep it at a reasonable price.

also i would add 2nd + 3rd prizes so people are rewarded for good designs, plus more people would enter.

$100-200. I would think anything over $200ish is with the coding part. Take freebanners advice with runner-up prizes;)
