Question On Using 301 Redirects

    Hello everyone......

If I drive traffic to my website and then redirect it to an affiliate link using a 301 in .htaccess, what referrer is shown? Does my site show as the referrer or does the original source of the traffic show as the referring site?

    Anyone know?

    Thanks

The original source of the traffic is shown as the referrer, if you use a 301 redirect.

Thanks. I thought that was the case.

I guess my next question is:

    Can a referrer be hidden?

Using a 301 redirect, it's impossible to hide the referrer.

Why are you trying to hide the referrer anyway? Any suspicious activity will be spotted, CJ's fraud department & merchants keep a close eye on everything... Also, merchants are not able to obtain full referrers (for example, a visitor referred by a google search will have the query stripped out, as to only show http://www.google.com/search to the merchant). CJ does that to protect affiliate search keywords.
