Question on title tag

Does having a long title tag hurt your ranking? As in, if you have a short title tag that is just your targetted keyword, will you get more power from that title tag than if you had more words?

I try to keep my titles short but meaningful with keyword phrase I am targeting at the beginning. This seems to work well for me. Since titles are usually listed in SERPs I want title to describe page.

I always try to have the keyword at the begining and adding the keyword in some variation later. Seems to work well for me.

To have a short title meen more relevance in regard with words from title structure. The title have a score that is divided to number of words from title. To use the most relevant words from page is usefull too.

Spamming up your title tag decreases relevance to your site if misused and Google will penalize you for it. Try keeping it short and simple and to the point. Less than 10 words if you're using a phrase. Less than 5 if you're describing content on a page.

    e.g.

Page for a site called 'Whatever' displaying a page with the topic 'Whatever Ads' could be displayed in a title as 'Whatever Ads - Whatever'. No more than 2 of the same keyword in one title though.

I have 9 words in my title tag. Is that too much? Part of the title tag is because I want people to, you know, visit, but I could increase SEO if I deleted some. But of course, sites are for people, not search engines.

Make it short, nice, and informative. Make sure it is not keyword stuffed! As has been said unless it is a totally non-competitive term, title tags will only help if there is relevant text in the body of the page. Changing title too often is not recommended either!

It might not hurt your listing in the serps but I think it will hurt your img searches.

Title tags should always relate to the content of your page., and i always include the title tag of a page in that page., also i repeat title tag in the description.,

Even advanced, you can dynamically generate folders for a url using the first key phrase of your title tag
    domain.com/title-tag-keyphrase/title-tag-keyphrase.html ,
iam in the process of trying this out, dont know how effective will it be

    widexl.com/remote/search-engines/metatag-analyzer.html

to make sure your title relevancy is above 90% and you'll be ok.

Page titles should be made for human consumption, I think it doest not make sense to have keyword stuffed title tag and moreover it will dilute the effect of keyword used.

Go for a title tags which is less than 10 words.

It depends on how long they are.

I would stick to 25-30 characters and make it to the point.

30 characters is exactly: Fantasy PC! Forums and Gaming!

and that title tag is what I use for my site, how ironic lol.
