question on selling sites

I'm interested in building unique websites and selling them on here.

My question is, how exactly do you go about it?

I'll create the site, write all the articles myself, and make it look nice and snazzy, run the auction and hopefully make a little bit of money. My question is how do I transfer it after that? I just got signed up on godaddy.com with a 1 year domain name and a 1 or 2 month hosting plan. If I can build the site in the next few days and sell it how exactly do I transfer it to the buyer?

Is godaddy the best for building and selling sites or does someone recommend another place?

    Thanks for the help.

Godaddy has free push so you just zip up whatever files you created and send them to the buyer and push the domain to his account at godaddy.
The buyer will have his own host.
    I guess :)

Yeah i wouldnt suggest hosting with godaddy...If you are just looking for a small plan (all you would need for flipping sites) Just go to the web hostng section on this forum...some ppl offer hosting for like 5 bux a year and would be enough for what you are doing...

    good luck with your venture!

what i normally do is transfer the domain and then give the buyer access to all the files and give up 2 a months hosting. (sometimes they cannot transfer sites straight away etc)

Some more advice, go for a .com/.net/.org if you can (many people don't like to buy .info .biz .cc etc so you may be lowering your market).
PHP includes are nice so that people can quickly add adsense/links.
Make sure your basic seo is ok, eh just one h1 tag, different meta titles/descriptions etc. If a buyer needs to change too much stuff they may not bid as high, or would prefer just to have someone write content and put their own site together.
    Just a few thoughts :)

Thanks for all the advice, all good stuff to know. I'm working on the site right now. Hopefully I can finish it up in the next few days. I'm starting to enjoy it and see the potential earnings from it though and am tempted to keep it to my self.

Just a question here, if I got a site up that had great potential, lets say 4 to 5 thousand words, optimized, and all set up to go with 3 or 4 affiliates, and 10to 15 pages of content, how much do you think it'd go for? I realize the site would need to be seen for an accurate quote, but if it's good is a few hundred asking too much? I see a lot going for 30 to 150 but I do believe this will be a high potential site.

I'm just wondering if it'll be worth it to sell it or if I should just hang on to it, what's a good site worth that doesn't have any traffic or earnings yet?

From what I see I think it's more worth to hang on to them.
All these sites that goes for 50 bucks... I'm pretty sure there's more than 2-4hours of work behind.

Yeah..you may find the toughest and most interesting part is in marketing and monetizing, good experience though.

If you hold on to the site and generate 1-2 months of revenue, people here will buy at 8x -10x monthly rev.
If the sites are old with longer revenue records, eg 6 months, or if the niche is really attractive, you may get 12 month + revenue.
But you'll only get 3x+ for sites that have been too many on the market, eg proxies.

However if your rev records is not good, might as well claim none and don't show it, and sell to whoever find it interesting.

don't be so impatient. Do a little work, and wait a few months and it will be worth much more.
