Question on Purchasing Domains to drive traffic to my oscommerce site

    Hello DP!

I have a oscommerce website that recently has gone live since July and so far it's doing good .. most traffic comes from search engines (google/yahoo). I've been in talk with local distributors that I use, and they say purchasing domain names that deal with your product niche will drive more traffic.

My oscommerce site sells car parts, so potentially they say purchasing domain names such as greddy-exhaust.net or aem-intakes.com (domain names that deal with manufacturers that I sell) would be the idea.

How do I go about marketing this? I suppose purchasing these domains, and then 304 redirecting them to my website would be the idea? Or do I use them more as backlinks?

Use as redirecting. Many major websites already use this method. But the trick is to make sure you don't just buy a random domain but a domain that already has a developed website that way the normal users will be transported to whatever you page is. Another idea to buy domains is to by those that are typos of the manufacturers websites. Say "greddy.com" you can get "greedy.com" to try to get some of the traffic your main supplier gets to your actual website.

    Thank You

so it wouldn't be a good investment to purchase a domain name (brand new) and just have it re-direct it to my website?

it would be wiser to purchase one that someone already has and transfer it to me?

Yeah an older domain is way better than just a brand new one. Especially when it comes to SEO and traffic. But again it depends on what you are trying to accomplish.

    Thank You
