For those of you who own them and promote them. What is the best steps to take to promote them and get them ranking. I do know basic SEO but these sites generally have low competition. I don't want to "over promote" them and get slapped. I was thinking of doing some articles But if you had to make a 12345 guide on what steps you take on promoting these from scratch what would it be? To start with, I'd submit the website to social bookmarking websites, submit the RSS feed, bookmark each page of the micro niche website, then I'd move on to article submissions, get them out of the way, when the articles are all live, bookmark the article URLs to get them indexed quickly and maybe pass some link juice on to your micro niche website. Then while all of this is going on, I'd be commenting on dofollow blogs and creating forum profiles, again bookmarking these to get them indexed and what not.
