Question on "In-between" whatchamacalit page?

Hoping the gurus here can help me. What is the industry term for "in between" page that prompts you to visit a so-called sponsor of the site? Often times you have to click the button on the top right to proceed to the actual destination page. I've search on the internet and the this forum but can't seem to find the exact term for it. Also, how is that implemented? is there a template or script for that or is it just a clever use of frames? Thanks in advance.

The technical term is "stupid and annoying". :) Use something like that only if you think pissing off your guests is a Good Thing.

    cheers,

It's not the peel away ad. I usually see the page in question on Megaupload or sites that like. I just want to know what the term is so I don't have to call them the "In -between - whatchamacalit - stupid & annoying" page. Thanks.
