Ok I was wondering if any of you do this but say i buy mysite.com should I also buy the .net .org and so on? Does it really matter? I was looking at sites like myspace and it looks to be they only have the .com?
But when I registered a domain on godaddy they suggested i get all of them....but i was thinkin they just want more sales...
    ANy info would be great
    Thanks

yeah they just want more sales..i think that is unnecessary..but if you buy the domain in all extensions you will have more exclusivity to your name

If you can afford it, sometimes it is helpful depending on how popular your site gets. I did buy all of them once and it was just an added expense.

If you are creating several sites and just looking to make the quick buck, it is a wasted expense.

If you are concentrating on one big site and planning on spending a lot of hard work and looking to keep the site for several years, it may be well worth the additional money to purchase and redirect them all to the .com site.

If you think that you may want to stop people having use of the other available extensions then it may be worth buying up at least a few of them.

Ive seen some webmasters become quite offended when they discover that someone is using the .info .net .org etc of their .com, but unless you secure them for yourself then theres nothing to stop them being grabbed by others of course.

If you think you will really invest a lot of money in that sites, or you if have foresight that your product/ services/ site will be a hit in the future, try getting the others tlds.

All that is needed is the .COM, as it is the easiest to remember and the first thing people will type in :)
