i have been posting a link to my site on different blogs. however, i type my message such a way that i use 2-3 different anchor texts within one statement each linking to my site. does that count as 2-3 backlinks or just one backlink?
every single link counts and it is a good thing that you change your anchor text from a link to another
If you are talking about Blog Comments or Review Posts, and are trying to get links for your site, then that is alright. However, for Blog Comments make sure you don't over use links as the blog owner can get irritated with lots of links in the same comment. Try to diversify and add comments to different posts, altering the anchor texts.
good tip. i had accidentally posted 3 times in one blog and the owner sent me a nasty email. i try to post once in every blog. i've made a list of blogs i want to target. i try to write long posts though and put 3-4 different anchor texts in each post.
is it the same for posting on forum's? Should I limit the amount of backlinks (my signature)that accompany my posts? also what exactly is anchor text? is it your link disguised as words (for lack of better explanation)? Or is it your actual url?
always change the anchor text from one posting to another.it provides more backlinks and helps alot in ranking your site
jasonk , take #2 in this post for example , the anchor text of his signature link is "Make money with AdSense "
maybe you can help me with that, when I edit my sig, and type in <a href="http://computermusicman.blogspot.com">music production</a> all of that shows up. what am I doing wrong
nofollow tells google not to follow your link. so putting up the link on that blog doesn't really count in terms of SEO.
I know for a fact google does, at least sometimes, follow the nofollows ... I did a test, where i setup a nofollow link to a page with no other links to it, and google still found and listed it. Is it possible that someone found the page and linked it independently, sure, but i somehow doubt it. but for the most part, most blogs dont even know about nofollow, you usually only see it in the SEO related blogs, because they are saavy enough to know whats going on.
every link counts, but try to not over do it, it might hurt you. it's a good idea thou to have more links in the same page. regards
You check if the link is no follow by viewing the source there will be something like <a rel="nofollow" href="www.domain.com"> This tells google not to crawl that URL. If this is the case you are not getting any link value from the blog comments. I would recommend using firefox and using the nofollow extension, which highlights links that have nofollow enabled. This way you don't have to waste your time viewing the source to see if nofollow is enabled. I'm pretty sure all blogspot blogs have nofollow enabled by default... the same goes for wordpress blogs.
I do agree with the no-follow tag. what it does is suggesting the search engine not to transfer the site's PR to the PR of the linking site. We SEO's do not like it, but for some blogs it's true so just accept it. feel free to ask more questions on your topic. We went a little bit out of it. regards
It depends on the blog, some blog owner uses nofollow. But some search engine still follows the link. For further information search nofollow on wikipedia.
I do agree in theory, but you never know. The no-follow tag "suggests" to the Search engine not to follow, but the final word is up to the search engine and your 'luck'. And bottom line is that people will read your comments and posts and you will still attract some targeted traffic overall. Regards
