If my domain is registered in my name and my address, and I decide to go through a proxy web hosting service instead of a regular one, do I also need to register my domain differently? What if it's already parked? Can I move it to a different one? I'm not doing anything illegal. I'm just not very good at security and I'm pretty sure my site will be hacked at least once. I'd just like the hacker to get as little of my personal info as possible. Please keep in mind I am VERY green at this. This will be my first attempt at launching a commercial website offering a product.
No. A "proxy web hosting service" is just the same as a regular web hosting service. You point your domain at the server just like you would normally. If you're worried about personal details use whois guard or a similar service. Namecheap offers it for free for the 1st year.
