Hey I was just reading another thread mentioning that twitter was down for some time. Somone replied saying thet the traffic load is high and they need more servers. So my question is how does Twitter keep running? How does it make any more money for the owners? I assume they are building it up to earn money in the future or possibly selling it off. So I assume they have investors who supply them with funds? Anyway does anyone know how twitter earns money?
Twitter is very unique but it actually sells it's Tweets on a particular topic such as the World cup or any other event to companies and search engines, sometimes for live streaming or indexing. "Twitter sells the rights to publish live tweets on any hot, trending topic (for example, the Football world cup, or The Royal Wedding of William and Kate). Search engines get live data, and unique comments through each tweet. As a by-product, Twitter gets more users. An ideal win-win situation!"
Hey thanks I see what you mean, anything thats twitted belongs to them because you are using their service. Like you say win-win for twitter. Its becoming more popular every day, especially because a lot of famous people use it and end up in the news for twitting some stupid remark.
That's it, you always hear on the news about someones Twitter update or some live shows now have a live feed etc... Twitter will be doing pretty damn well
Twitter promote accounts. Many businesses use the twitter marketing products to increase their followup (increase their followers from the relevant audience). In this way twitter earn some part of its total revenues.
