I'm not sure there is a fixed limit - but the trick is to make your backlink building look natural. Therefore don't do 15 articles per day, 15 directories per day etc.

I'm not an expert, but I'd say start with a few per day/week - different sources such as directories, blog comments, the odd article with a MIX of anchor text and then gradually increase. Some weeks 1 articles some weeks 4 some weeks 3 or 6 then after a while more.

Limit? There is no limit. Well, the limit is how many you can physically submit in a 24 hour period.

If you mean how many can you add in one go before Google or other search engines think something is fishy and penalises you, well that's a whole big debate. No one really knows, no one is even really sure if you will get penalised (although experiences seem to suggest you do).

To be on the safe side, I would say grow your links gradually.

Just as Ohjay said no one really knows the number of if it does happen.

Just build backlinks to your website normally and don't worry about getting penalized. You should only really worry about that if you are using automatic software.

I think there is no limitation on links you are going to build for your site. The more, the better. But Google will love those links that looks normal. Spam link building will be published and it is wasting your time.
