If you have seen it, most probably it would have taken over your mind for a very long time... Thats the awesomeness of the movie... One of the best work of spielberg... I always wondered about this movie and the thing that i just cant conclude about it is that was that a good decision they take... about sending those men just to save a soldier who most probably have died in the war??? I understand the emotions behind the decision.. that mother deserve her only son... but she must have thought about it when sending all of them in war... It would be a different situation when ryan was in contact.. he should have to be sent home right away... But this situation was different... You cant risk the lives of other brave soldiers to check if he is alive... Though in the end it may seem like a very good idea.. those men kicking some asses and dying with honor and bravery... But in reality this is not always the situation.. i am not even sure how accurate the movie is to the real events... I just cant decide what is right in such situations... What do u think ??
Saving private ryan was a great movie and has one of the best opening scene's ever witnessed. As for the story it was inspired in part by the true story of Fritz Niland, one of four brothers from New York state who saw action during the war. Two Niland brothers were killed on D-Day, while another was missing in action in Burma and was presumed dead, although he actually survived. Fritz was located in Normandy by an Army chaplain, Reverend Francis Sampson, and taken out of the combat zone. You can find reference to this is steven ambrose's book Band of Brothers that had parts directed by steven spielberg and tom hanks who were also linked to the movie.
