1. Very competitive, the top 10 are all quite established sites with lots of backlinks. The top 3 all have in excess of 30k to their homepage so they have been at it for a long time. Not to mention the fact that because this is an adult related niche it is harder to obtain quality backlinks to begin with. 2. How long is a peice of string. There are too many factors to answer such a question accurately. How often to you build links, how many per day, what kind of quality are the links, etc. 3. The biggest difference right now is that the Google Panda update is already in full effect in the US, but it has not yet been fully implemented in the UK (last time I checked). Overall, the results would be pretty similar anyway because it is a geo targeted search, so it wouldn't matter too much where the searcher originated IMO. HTH
