http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CA7jHaowNME (part 1) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XWdz1pnAFUA (part 2) Ron was on PBS with Judy Woodruff Your question is answered here (if I'm wrong, please let me know) ...plus you get a chance to learn the truth about Dr. Paul (instead of propaganda) It's a very high quality interview
The real question is, what part of the Presidential authority allows him to get rid of the IRS? Or does he assume that the the house and senate will go along with his idea? From a Ron Paul supporter's blog Shutting down the IRS is his biggest sell. But what I've never seen before is the list of other departments that will be closing down to make up for the loss of revenue.
Also, before you jump to conclusions, none of this is intended to be overnight. It would be a gradual adaptation to states taking responsibility for their themselves. Guess what, our government doesn't have to be about spend, spend, spend. In just 7 years, we've added about 50% onto the federal budget, and with what to show for it? If you don't think the candidates that are in office will take dramatic steps to stop wasting our money, VOTE THEM OUT. This is half the reason we are voting Ron Paul in the first place. When people sit with their thumbs up their asses and say "but how do you expect to accomplish all this?", you highlight exactly what is wrong with this country. You don't have to like Ron Paul, but considering most people are Republicans in here, you should be disgusted with the amount of waste in our government, and you should be doing what we are doing, getting off our asses and working to change it.
I believe he said in an interview that President doesn't have authority to abolish IRS. Instead, he would work with Congress to acomplish that
If he just wanted to get rid of the IRS he may have a snowball's chance in hell. But, since doing it requires castrating our military and our own national defense, he's got no chance. Apparently he really does believe that if we just ignored the rest of the world we would be perfectly safe. Does he not believe in public education either? Are we going to save enough in income taxes that everyone can afford to send their kid to a private school or home school them?
He believes in public education funded by the states. NCLB is a colossal failure, as are many things that the federal government tries to implement. We would be much better off with state governments handling education, rather than trying to use a one size fits all mentality across 50 very different parts of the nation.
We had national defense long before Congress sold income tax to the public. Today we have heavy progressive income tax and not much of national defense. One doesn't have anything to do with the other Homeschooling costs under $1000 a year per child. If you can afford to pay $10k in property taxes for every kid, you can surely afford to homeschool. Since homeschooled children are not taught by public school teachers, they place on average in 87th percentile, comparing to 28th percentalie for inner-city public school children. When these public school children grow up, they end up on welfare or in jail, and the rest of us are charged for supporting them financially. Public school is one of the main reasons we are where we are
Great post. As someone who did Public and Private schooling, the difference is night and day from an educational standpoint.
None of the above. It's primarily through the fair tax http://www.fairtax.org/site/PageServer?pagename=news_presScorecard which I support. Hundreds of other taxes will be eliminated in favor of one sales tax. The FairTax: Abolishes the IRS Closes all loopholes and brings fairness to taxation Ensures Social Security and Medicare funding Brings transparency and accountability to tax policy Allows American products to compete fairly Reimburses the tax on purchases of basic necessities Enables retirees to keep their entire pension Enables workers to keep their entire paycheck No more filing taxes.
Homeschooling costs $30,000 a year or more depending on the education and job skills of the parent who has to stay home to educate their child. Many families can't afford to have one parent stay home. Not all parents are capable of being teachers. Our toys are a lot more expensive now. If you think we can defend ourselves with muskets then maybe we can afford national defense on a tighter budget. We have a progressive tax because if you had a flat tax, only the rich would get a tax cut. Everyone else would get a tax hike to make up for the rich getting the same tax rate as everyone else. It's the unfairness to the rich that helps keep money in the pockets of those who aren't so fortunate. I don't think Ron Paul understands why we have military bases around the world. We have military bases in a lot more countries than the middle east and yet it just seems to be the Muslims that object. Wonder why that could be... it's a thinker. It was decided long before the NCLB act that education is critical to the nation. As such, the federal government is required to ensure its citizens have equal opportunities. Not all states have the money for public education. So what do we do with those states?
Before the income tax scam, very few women worked. Abolish IRS, and we can go back to what worked. One worker per family, no 'women equality' crap, children are raised by parents. Worked very well and we didn't have any problems we do now No, it's the opposite. Homeschooled children place in 87th percentile, comparing to 28th percentile for inner-city public school children. Few people are capable of being teachers except for parents... Public schooling is a failed experiment and the sooner it is abolished the better for the economy I don't care if someone wants his children to place in 28th percentile, the problem is that they force me to pay for it under threat of violence There was an Amish guy in Wisconsin who got sued by Protection Services for not sending his son to school. They said, if he doesn't go to school, he might end up being socially unacceptable and end up in jail or mental institution. The Amish guy was acquitted after he produced statistics that everyone in Wisconsin mental institutions attended public school as a child, and not a single one was Amish. Why risk destroying child's life if it only takes 3 hours a day to homeschool?
You're comparing all teachers who deal with dozens of kids on a daily basis to a few parents who chose to teach only their kids. You're also comparing INNER city schools to homeschooling. Your even less likely to find parents of inner city kids who are willing and able to teach their own kids. How does your typical middle class school compare to homeschooling? If parents were forced to teach their kids you'd probably end up seeing that public education was better. A lot of kids are sent to public schools because the parents can't teach or don't feel a need to because the teachers at the school are better at it. What threat of violence? Some more stats: http://www.americanchronicle.com/articles/viewArticle.asp?articleID=12879 Again, not every parent can teach their kids at a level above what they could get at a public school. Homeschooled kids currently do better because the vast majority of those who do the homeschooling are above average intelligence themselves. As soon as you lump in the general population, you now have the same problem as public education: unqualified people teaching kids. Except with Ron Paul, now you don't have an alternative. Your kid is going to suffer because you didn't get an education yourself. It's going to make it a lot harder for families (especially immigrants) to move up in the world without public education. Our baby is going to be homeschooled because we fit in the demographic mentioned above. We can afford it and we both are college educated. I personally took classes for secondary education and could get the degree if I decided to pursue it. Our plan is to get our child socialized through extra curricular activities which is where most kids get that education anyway.
These days, you can be home-schooled over the net just as good or even better than in public schools without those freaking bullies that bug the doo-doo out of u lol.
