    Hi

I have started my forum (the one in my signature) about 1.5 months ago. The site has been spidered by all major search engines and comes up in search results but PR is still 0.
It has about 50 registered users and it gets about 2000 visitors/week.
I wonder how this results compares with the other forums? Is the number of users/ registered users,... are good, bad or average?
why with so many users, the number of registered users are still low?
    Thanks.

Your numbers are not bad at all for 1.5 months

As for the registered users, you can make registration required

As for the PR, it gets updated every 3 to 5 months

Your websites stats don't seem bad at all. Your PR won't be updated for a bit because google only updates PR every so often.

I think the website could have a better look which may entice more visitors to join. I think this will be harder to gain a lot of members because there is no single one topic. Its a mixture. Also I would recomend losing some of the forums because they just make your website look empty.

    Hope that helps.

I think thats pretty good for the age of the forum.
I get approx 50 signups per month but I don't know why they bother signing up as not many actually post.

Traffic keeps increasing and there can be a 100 online at times but again they are looking but not posting.

I bought the forum a few months ago and it was a PR2 but has since dropped to PR1, I don't know what that is about as links, traffic, indexed pages have all improved significantly. At one time it had been a PR5.
I just think Google is over forums.

All the search engine bots visit daily, Google and MSN have both registered over 20000 hits this month and AskJeeves tops the list at 72000.

I would like to say that it is because of some fancy SEO that I did but tell you the truth, I have no idea on how I got so many visitors.

The forum is www.freehosttalk.com. It's about a year old but the previous owner let it slide after a couple of months so it was dead for about six months, I took it over in February when it had 170 members, since then it has grown to 530.

Just having it my signature around the forum circuit got a lot of signups at first but now it is averaging 50 new members each month but I don't promote it anymore so these are organic signups coming from the search engine traffic.

The previous owner did all sorts of promotions, giving free hosting and domains for posting and other stuff but I have actually done better by keeping it low key and letting it build naturally. Of course the COOP weight has probably helped, it has a weight of about 4000.

Paying or giving stuff away for posting just leads to a forum full of crappy one liners that have no relevance to the forum.
Putting it in your signature works for awhile but then people get used to seeing it so don't see it.

A forum such as yours will grow naturally so don't stress too much about it, it's a good name and subject.
