    From the post

Is it true that older member get special treatment? IMO it should be reverse, if senior member violate the rules they should get more punishment. If you have been here so long, you should know the rule..and if you still bump/hijack, that means you don't respect the rules at all:mad:

may be i am a dumbass cuase i should just shut up and take advantage myself. However, this is not right

Yes, it's true....depending on the violation.

If it's a misplaced thread or a string of "welcome to DP's", then it will usually be overlooked or issued a yellow warning.

Not everyone is as hardcore as you are- I guess! ;)

    @ahkip

Think outside the forum world for a second with your logic

    Here is the situation:

    Plumber A:

Plumber A has been working and plumbing for 15 years and one day he has a leak on his pipe joint, but for the last 15 years has had no leaks

    Plumber B:

Plumber B is a new hire and Comes to work for the same company as Plumber A , and tells the boss he is a mechanic BUT by the end of the day he has a leak...

Which guy would you fire...or yell at more...

The Plumber that has 15 years or the guy that was noob with the same leaks.....

Can you please clarify that statement for me? I mean, if I see a new user and I add a welcome note at the end of my post, then I am eligible for a Yellow infraction?

my logic tell me making a mistake is not the same as breaking rule with full intention (bumping and spamming). I can understand posting in wrong forum since it is confused as hell anyway.

However, anyone who bump or spam has a purpose (to gain advantage for themselves) and knows what he is doing.

i am not hardcore, or a guy who get excited when someone's account got axed. All i want is to be fair and square. Anyway i 've got my answer and this thread can be close (so that i can stop wasting my time to stop violation by reporting as it is a waste of time anyway)

Generally speaking members who have some history with DP will get the benefit of the doubt. At least that's how I do things.

Benefit of the doubt does not equal free pass to break the rules.

Well that's about right- your logic is similar to mine.

I am not referring to intentionally trying to circumvent the rules.

    Exactly my thoghts Ahkip.

Lets say an idiot/spammer/jerk joins the forum say in 2004. Three years pass and he's still the same idiot but with XXXX posts. How does making 1k posts make him/her a different person lol. Everybody should be treated the same.

I would definitely trust a senior member more than some n00b who joined 5 days ago but, if a person is intentionally breaking rules, it shouldn't matter how many posts/rep points/years of membership/iTraders he or she has.

P.S. This comment is not directed at anybody in specific.

    EDIT:

    I knew you weren't that dense! :D:D:p

I'd fire both of them and hire Plumber C who has been working for 20 years with no leaks.:D

I don't follow the logic that older members should be punished more. If anything, all members equal would make more sense, but it seems to be fine the way it is.

I dont think he can last that long ;)

Yeah I agree if its a blatant and repeated violation of rules then the punishment should be same..

Many senior members(including myself) got infractions for something at sometime..

But if a senior member who really contributed to the forum for a long time made a mistake unknowingly, he should not be given red infractions.. Yellow warning should be enough to let him know about the mistake and I think This is what Robbie meant..

Generally what happens, when a senior member makes a mistake and gets a yellow warning he learns from it, and stop making same mistake again. But if a newbie gets it, he panics and starts a thread bitching and whining about it, thus getting more infraction....

Members are members. All must be treated same, regardless of their time at DP.

a red card worth 1 point for a 7 days old member to bump thread = a red card worth 1 point for a 7 months or years old member to bump a thread.

Rules are rules, even mods have to follow them:)
