Question For Guys Who Do Freelance Web Design

I am thinking of trying out freelance web design, I had a few basic questions:

    1. If your client needs hosting, do you let them purchase that themselves, or do you included that in the overall price?

    2. How do you accept payments, does Paypal work for most?

    Hi,

Depends on the client I guess. I offer an excellent hosting option and will always offer my client this even if they're already sorted. And paypal works for me although there are other options (money transfer, cheque, etc).

    Good luck.

I have a host lined up that I have used for years and would recommend, so it's better if I just recommend this host as opposed to forcing them to use it?

Advise them to use your host. You can set up the account for them but all the bills go to them. Leave your name off it. Paypal is fine.

Yeah, I agree with drhowaddrfine. You can offer them your host yet payments should go to them. Most freelancers use paypal to receive payments.

As usual the Doc's got it there....

1- Recommend "your host"... If you are a freelance designer or developer or both, stick to that without adding web hosting to your daily time allowance.

2- Paypal is good... Can also use GoogleCheckout and 2checkout.. I personally use 2checkout they take paypal too... The fees are higher but, in my opinion and through experiences, they have better fraud protection as well as better chargeback protection. ( I actually use all 3 of those )

Stop trying to follow the money by thinking of offering domain services or web hosting services... Perfect your area of expertise and the money will come to you without the additional headaches.

    Cheers!!~
