When was the last time Google had a PR toolbar update that effected all websites? My guess is over a year. Am I wrong?

I think the last full update was this one (but I could be wrong, I don't follow them personally).

Yes that one in February. It was weird though. Not all pages got updates. The update concentrated on new pages (pages that had no PR before).

And anyone can tell when will be the next one, or at least how many times it's usually done per year?

There was also one in April time after Big Daddy was wheeled out.

Also there was a hint of one last week but it seemed to die on its arse before it got started.

Its normally 4 times per year.

The reason I asked was to get input into the possiblity Google might not ever update the Toolbar PR again for all sites at the same time. Could they have just abandoned it all together and just didn't tell anyone in the outside world? It would be sad if millions of people kept following PR updates for years if the whole thing has been turned off. I think Google could do this and not feel any responsiblity to tell anyone about their action. Just expressing a few ideas outloud, but I know others here are much more experienced than I am.

It would be sweet if they stopped doing a global update IMO. Maybe people would stop caring so much.

This idea of a PR update does seem to cause "obsession" in some folks! :)

Yeah, if PR doesn't mean as much as it used to then why not update every week or so.

could start as i write this post, could be next week. Signs of one are surfacing daily, today I saw a glimpse of one on my site, but it went away as well. They normally do them every 3 months..
