    Hello

I have a question for you , people from anywhere India. Many developpers from India are submitting quotes when i am subcontracting on odesk or elsewhere. The thing that puzzles me is the names and first names they are using.

This morning only, i ve got a Frank Dave, a Marc Larking and a Angelina Smith and i ve seen a lot of indians natives taking those kind of names.

My guess, correct me if i'm wrong, is that they are lying, unless parents are naming children from american tv shows for 411 directory

So question is Why ? So note that i am maybe completly wrong but well ...

Those are fake names or second names, most probably..

Having a second English names routes from earlier BPO industry where executives had to choose an English name because outsourcing companies didn't want to let their customers know that their calls are being routed to India. Later on, it was said that some Indian names are too confusing for American customers (As parodied in the movie - Horrible Bosses) so they picked a simpler or popular English names instead.

So I guess that's why newcomer developers from India pick an English name to get to a certain comfort level with prospective hirer.

Yeah, they are using fake names.
No people with such names from India.
There name may be same like David, but their surname should be Indian.

Actually indian names like ramasamy, anitha, punitha, chinnaraj, kuppanna, shivanna, omanakuttan like those, i just mentioned few examples, but you cannot able to identify their gender and also cannot able to pronounce or memorizes easily, so they use pseudo names.. And eventually they are not well known about the name they choose.. so problem occurs..

I understand that. Still, I think think it's bad. People should not give up on their identity and who they are, whatever the economic or business reason is.
At least for me, if your last or first name is omanakuttan, that s the way it is. Don't lie to me on that . We are not born in the same place, we don't have same type of names, that's it. From the list above, i can't see any i could not pronounce after 3 tries.

The problem is with the people who can't make the effort to pronounce name or accept other s differences
