Question For All Webmasters Regarding Website Sales

Discussion in 'Sites' started by EasyMarketer, Jan 6, 2007.

    Hello Fellow Webmasters,

I am starting a new website that buys websites.

The question is Would you all sell websites for these prices.

The price chart goes by monthly earnings, without advertising, advertising takes out of the price chart on how much money is being spent on advertising.

This price chart goes by paying months in advance for your website So if your website is making a certain amount a month, there are three prices that will be paid on however the websites previous stats are. So basically you are getting money that you can do whatever you want with to buy another website if your site is getting boring to you etc.

The standard payment is 6 months of earnings, if your site is making 500.00 a month 3,000.00 will be paid to you upfront.

Time to explain the reasoning behind all of this.

5 months earnings upfront for ownership of website will be if your earnings are decreasing month by month.

6 months, is if it is steady earnings not going up or down.

7 months is if it is increasing month by month.

Will you all be interested in this?

My company will be buying websites of all types, that are making money like this.

Of course, if the site is custom, and unique there will be extra money added onto it, but what i said earlier is the normal price chart.

This deal is for all webmasters of almost all types, only type of websites that are not accepted is adult websites. Affiliate promoting websites are accepted, adsense sites are accepted, sites with cpm ads are accepted,
if you are selling products this is accepted.
If your products are unique, will also work out deals for the products themselves.

To protect my corporation from fraud, There will be net 7 payments to monitor the websites to make sure that the screenshots were not falsified.
After the 7 days go by you all have the choice of accepting checks, or even money transfers online.

Please read this last part carefully, This will be opened up inside of BETA and for the USA only for the first 6 months. After the first 6 month trial period, I will open this up in some more countries.

Let me know what you all think of this, and any suggestions are appreciated.
    Thank you,
    -John

I don't mean any offense, John. But this whole idea sounds a bit silly to me.

A website is like any other property. It will sell for what the market values it at. You can't put it in a box so neatly.

I think there might be some who take you up on the scheme. But they will be the sort who develop and sell sites for a living. You're not going to find a real business with this kind of thing.

I put one of my sites up for sale rather reluctantly a couple of months back. Using a formula of site traffic, ad and product sales, etc I had what I thought was a good idea of what the site was "worth". I received a few weak offers from parties I was not confident would do the right thing by the site and the seven years I have put into it.

Word spread to some of my site regulars. From them I received offers nearly 20 times that of what I was getting from the webmaster community.

I learned a valuable lesson about Internet property in the process of all this. (And no, I did not sell the site after all).

I wish you well on your project. But like with most things, you'll get what you pay for.

Sounds alright, although I'm sure some people wont settle for less than a years earnings or whatever.

I agree, I do a little bit of website buying and selling part time, and 100% agree.

I understand what you are saying, and respect that seriously.
I just see alot of people selling websites and i always find it strange, I have seen some things on sitepoint being sold for 4 months of its earnings.

I understand how alot of people get bored of there websites because I get bored with some of my websites, even after they are fully developed.

To be honest tho, what i said is the usual price chart, There are further negotiations after the webmaster has submitted there application for the website to be purchased.

If I see that the website is increasing i will be willing to go up to 9 months of earnings, plus the unique about it like products etc.

Edit: One more thing, I will not change a thing for those 7 days, if the website has very noticable less earnings, then will renegotiate the price or return the website to the webmaster along with a check or internet money transfer of the earnings that it earned. Along with proof of how much it has earned.

If I would sell some of my sites making steady $xxx-$xxxx a month -there are no way I would sell it for 6 months or 12 months of revenue, thats a shit deal. When I sell my sites it starts at min. of 18 months of revenue and I have no problem selling.

But your plan would properly work fine with people who don't now what there sites are worth or are desperate for cash.
