do you think that 150 GB bandwidth is enough for 5 proxy sites that use PHProxy...? if the proxy sites got about 500 uniques a day?
CGI scripts are not recommended. PHP Proxy scripts are a lot lighter on the CPU and memory usage. - Marc
I don't think 150GB is enough for 5 proxies with 500 uniques (i.e. about 1000 page views) I used to have a proxy with 200 uniques eating 30GB a month..... Of course that will depend on if you limit the size of the file allowed to be downloaded through the proxy. CGI eats less (not sure how much) but I don't think you'll find hosts to allow you to run it on shared hosting. You'll probably need a VPS. I think you should try Glype proxy Hope this helps
WOW all this time i though CGI does use a lot of resources but less bandwidth! okay which one would u say is the best Glype, PHProxy, Zelnue, CGI (For bandwidth and system resources, CPU..)?
I would say to head for around the 300GB per month mark for CGI proxies, but if you use Glype/Zelune you should be fine on 150GB
CGI proxys are optimized to save on bandwidth but most host will not allow you to run them as they do use a lot of system reources.. PHP and the others use more bw then the cgi Yes you can ran 5 proxys with that much traffic on 150gb of bw. You just need to know how to optimize them and disable hot linking.. We have about 40-50 proxys and they get a ton a traffic as we are always advertising them and we dont put a dent in the bw usage on the servers. It is how you optimize them, you never want to run a proxy just the way it is when you install it. This will make a difference on the cpu, memory and bw usage on the server. We host proxys and we run a proxy network. if you are looking at proxy hosts please check us out iwhic.com If you want to run your own cgi proxy then look at our vps deals.
Ok I am not giving all my secrets away, but this one everyone should now. limit your download from unlimited to around 5-10mb
You know this is wrong because when you limit it and some one lets say downloads something for 25 MB after it gets downloaded on the system it'll say that this is an error and it wont let the visitor download it so you're actually losing visitors and not cutting on BW...
I dont. think you are understanding...but that is ok.. if your proxys are used for what they intended for then you will have no problem. I run alot a proxys and host a lot of proxys, and have not had a problem with them. or lost any of the traffic that i want to have.. But dont listen to me. They are not my proxys so that is fine.
