Question: Do High PR Links Really Make A Difference in the SERPS?

Discussion in 'Link Development' started by Nathan Malone, Jan 28, 2006.

I see people and sites selling lots of High PageRank links (PR 7+) everywhere, but do those links really make a difference nowdays in the search engines (especially Google)?

For example, if I were to purchase two relevant PageRank 7 links for one of my sites, would I see a meaningful rise in rankings in the search engines?

I know a lot of DP'ers purchase links, so I figured I would ask here.

    Thanks!

They certainly appear to help from where I sit.

For keywords with little competition you do not need a pagerank 7 link to rank highly but for competitive keywords the higher the pagerank of the links the better.

Yes. PageRank can be like magic. It gives your site "juice".

2 good PR 7 links would have impact on rankings but only if you have enough other links with the relevant search terms in them to work in tandem w/ the high PR links. But there are other benefits too, such as increased crawling of your site and connected sites.

If you have a PR 7 link to your site and it has your phrase in it you are on the right track. If that page is relevant even better. If that page has same words in the title home run. If you have lots of other links with that phrase in it you will have a leg up on the competition who do not have PR 7 links.

Certainly, the more PR the better. But, with that said - I'd rather have a themed PR4 link than I would a generic PR7.

    Thanks for the info!

If the PR 7 (for example) sites that I purchase links from also have links to 10-15 other sites, would they still be worth it?

The more outgoing links they have the less you get. 10-15 should be alright though. However google can now pick up the text around links. Something like:

    Partners:
    link
    link
    link

    Might not work well.

If you read Matt Cut's blog, Google does have tools to filter out purchased links. If you get a natural high PR links, it does help greatly. Purchased links are a different story.

I have seen a lot fo sites with google rank 5,6, few 7 not many 8. Dont think ever 9. (besides google, yahoo). Does anyone know of a way to view a list by google rank? Using this as a way to target where one might want to try and build up more links.

I have seen some tools that allow you to enter in lists of domains and get back google rank. But nothing that lists out top sites by the google rank.

page rank is not a criteria for serp result. being high pr will not help you to get high serp results

I purchased a package of links from a site which I won't name, and it did absolutely nothing to increase my sites traffic or PR. Thank you very much..if you want results, play by the rules and build links gradually, by linking to quality content pages. This was just my experience, and others may have had better results than me. I just couldn't justify the expenditure without any results.
