I use pinnacle studio and for the most part I am happy with it. My neighbor who is a videographer uses Adobe Pro. This very expensive ($800-$1000.00 I beleive) and is more of a profesional application. For me Pinnacle works great (and is resonably priced at about $125.00) for my video needs...home movies, small video clips for church, etc.

Are you trying to produce professional - tv-quality videos?

If so, the two most popular applications are Adobe Premiere Pro and Apple Final Cut.

Both are very capable and somewhat expensive as posted earlier. See the links for pricing info.

If you start with broadcast quality footage each will deliver, if you use the settings correctly, output that can air on television.

If you are just trying to produce clean video for delivery over the web these could be overkill.

However, with all the new distribution outlets online (Google, YouTube, website, mobile phones, iTunes) better quality is going to bring more views - but first and foremost interesting content is king.

So spend enough to deliver watchable video but think about what and how to present your content or ideas first.

if youre doing something for youtube then sony vegas or pinnacle studio would do, but for if you're doing paid, professional work, go for adobe premiere. The price is hefty but well worth it.
