Question about XP?

I believe I have messed up my XP Pro somehow and I am now missing some files. (I think)

I am wondering if I put my XP disk in my drive, does it give me an option to reinstall XP and not loose any thing on my computer or is it going to want to reformat my entire computer?

I basically need to recover some missing stuff and fix some broken stuff, but I don't want to wipe my computer.

    Any ideas? Thanks!

The Windows XP disk contains an option called "Repair".
It will only remove files required for Windows and replace them, but keep everything else intact.

Read this guide for detailed instructions.

But, remember to backup all your important data, before proceeding.

Yes you can have that option

    1) Boot computer with WinXP bootable CD

    2) Go Setup

    3) Don't choose repair just follow install (if you choose repair you'll get command prompt)

    4) Then it find previously installed Windows then you'll repair it

    Hope this help :)
