Question about weight vs indexed pages

I had about 266 pages indexed in google. The weight was about 3 times that. Now I have about 8940 pages index, but weight is about half that.

Is this how the algo works? Am I missing something? Sorry if this is a repeat question, site in sig.

    Thanks!

FYI: Using the API, i'm only seeing 1680 pages indexed.

is this the first you've checked your weight since the weight algo change?

nah, i check it all the time, how does one use the API? (sorry, newbie question). The datacenters are showing 8940 - 8950. Does this eventually hit the API?

I read that the new algo is logarithmic - to stop the bigger sites getting all the weight.

I dont know how exactly, but for example, a site with 1 page could get 1 weight, a site with 10 pages gets 2 weight and a site with 100 pages gets 3 weight. thats if it was log base 10, which I'm guessing it isnt. I think thats right. I'm guessing there are other factors, but that would explain why a site 10 times the size wouldnt get 10 times the weight, aswell as the pages not being in the api.

well, there are more factors then that when determining weight. the number of indexed pages (via the API), number of ads run and the PR of the site. We know that it's logarithmic, and includes these variables. other then that, the formula is anyone's (but Shawn's of course), guess.
