If i get vbulletin forum with license etc, will it have all the same options like , DP has over here? I mean things like reputation , or do you have to code it to get it ? I am asking because i am going to build a forum and reputation button would have hell lot of a use !

    cheers

    vai

Edited: i guess the best is to ask all these sort of question in vbulletin forums :)

It will be almost exactly the same as digitalpoint.

DP is almost a standard vB installation, just a slightly different coloured template and a few mods installed.

If you want to add more features to your vBulletin installation that don't come as standard then there is probably a modification for it that you can find at www.vbulletin.org

So basically, a standard vB install will be very similar to DP, and most things you can get in the form of mods.

My forum at www.computalk.net is also vBulletin powered so you can take a look at the features there, I have done no coding of my own, all of it is standard vBulletin or modifications from vbulletin.org

Thank you very much for your help ! I am still trying to decide though, shall i purchase it or no, i mean 90$ for a first year is a lot of money plus 30$ for every next year ! However that is not the thing i am worrying about! The most important thing is I am not sure will i be able to translate it to Latvian language myself, since i havn't done it never ever before! So i was wondering would someone be able to help me here at DP if i will stuck ? :)
Besides your forum is offline , i get this message ! Webmaster please contact

The first thing I would look at is, is your forum going to be successful? If you are not sure I would go for a free forum software and then when your forum takes off, if it takes off, then you should consider buying a license. I don't see any real point in purchasing a license and then see it going to waste.

You can get more help from the website in my signature :)

Sorry for some reason I got suspended for overusing bandwidth (3 terabytes??) but I don't believe them so it should be online again soon lol.

Anyway, it would be very hard to translate the whole forum software.

Many of the free software available have a reputation system. SMF has a basic Karma system (exactly the same).. It can be extended using the Karma Description Mod. MyBB also has a reputation system. phpBB 2 does have some kind of MOD I think, and phpBB 3 has a Karma Mod in BETA..

    Lots of options :)

Yes. If you are looking for a free platform, I advice you SMF. PhpBB isn't secure at all.

I would recommend phpBB or MyBB, they are both good solid free forum scripts. phpBB is more used though.

lol = laughing out loud because I normally use 4 or 5 gigabytes of bandwidth each day and have 3000 gigabytes for a month and sudenly my host decided I used it all in a few hours :confused:

hmm i found something here !

No Latvian language over there, would it be hard to translate it ? I am checking i at http://www.simplemachines.org/community/

BTW with SMF or phpBB can you build under threads like here in DP ?
Example would be here at DP under Marketing we have:

    Search Engine Optimization
    General search engine optimization discussion.
    Sub-Forums: Keywords, Sandbox

would that be possible as well , i guess it should be done by any forum these days, but i would just like to make sure !

But i don't think you can leave a comment in karma can you ?

    cheers

Yes you can leave comments by installing the Karma Description Modification. And yes you can have sub-forums on both SMF and phpBB :)
