I have created a recent blog that hasn't been indexed yet (incase its relevant). I have started to promote the website through yahoo answers. I was wondering if there was any negative effect to using this method. I wasn't sure if this was considered spamming and if google frowned on this if done excessively.
There is none negative impact of you limit your promotion to 1 to 2 link per day. If more than that,it will consider spamming by yahoo answer and people will report your post.
Its not important to wait for search engines to indexed your blog, You're going right way nothing will happen. But be sure that you're not spamming there.
Just not limit to Yahoo answer, Optimize it for search engine and add your blog in blogger community/blog directories, also share your posts in Social sites, it will help you to get some traffic.
Thank you for all of your replies. I plan using other methods of getting traffic besides yahoo answers. I just wanted to get a rough idea at what point google/yahoo might consider it spamming to make sure I dont reach that point
You need to provide legitimate and quality answers or you will be banned from Yahoo Answers, but adding a link is completely fine as long as its relevant.
Well,don't worry.Yahoo answer is a good way to get more traffic and backlinks.But remember that never try to post something unrelated less that you are regared as spamming.
