I have a site that is up and running but still taking lots of time and energy. I got a second domain because I was going to work on a separate store with different but related items (hence the names are compatible). I don't have time to do the second store, so I have this domain name languishing in limbo. I am considering just having it point to my current store, since the name is suitable for that as well. Is there any bad (read SEO detrimental) reason why I cannot use the second name in this way? Is it just a waste of time because then I would have to have inbound or recip links pointing and it is better to have all of my links going to the same URL. IE widgetsforher.com is the main store and the secondary languishing domain is widgetsforgirls.com Does it make more sense just to let widgetsforgirls.com go and keep to one URL or to promote both with widgetsforgirls.com redirecting to widgetsforher.com. Widgetsforgirls.com has a PR3 and is nothing but a placeholding page (go figure).
It costs almost nothing in either time or money to keep widgetsforgirls up with a couple of on theme pages in place and a link to the main site. The domain is aging and archive.org should have a record of it. If you look around DP you will see people who are buying old domains and they prefer those which have had some content on them. To me, the benefits are well worth the cost of registrtion and hosting.
Awesome - that is the kind of thing I wanted to know. I don't want to lose the domain in case I ever find myself with time to do what I originally wanted with it.
