I've noticed a lot of turnkeys for sale here and on other forums, and here's my question, are turnkeys safe? The reason I'm asking is because I once got a turnkey site free here on DP. After leaving it as is on my host for months, I decided it wasn't doing much good, and I didn't like that it had all this dupe content on it. So I wiped it clean, installed Drupal on the domain name and built a complete new site with unique content on it. Now I've noticed looking at my logs in Drupal that there are all these error messages and processes that try to run, and they refer to file names that I guess were in the old website. The old site was supposed to be pretty static, just content and some affiliate links, but the errors I'm seeing now make me think something else was going on behind the scenes, some scripts running and such. Just wondering about this, can script creators sometimes add scripts into the turnkeys they sell for different intentions? I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, so if I'm in the wrong place hope a mod will move this to right place.
it is possible but thats why you just dont take someones word when they offer it for free... unless they have a good reputation, i mean dont any alarms go off when people offer stuff for free? "dont take candy from stangers"
I know what you mean. Usually even when I buy a script I go in and inspect the code to make sure i know what every line is doing, or at least have an idea. This one though was Perl which I am not too familiar with, so who knows what was going on. I did get it from someone I trust but they had bought it from someone else.
