I saw this ad on yahoo recently. I had a question to everyone. Why are the movie and the Company advertising together? Who pays who? Like are they just using the movie because people are going to look at that ad and also check the date to see when it's out? Does iron man pay them to have their ad with ORACLE?
There are all types of deals for movie endorsements. Oracle either paid or provided some service to be able to use a popular movie character in their advertising. There are companies that deal with product placement in movies. It became big business after M&M's turned down a deal for the movie E.T. Reese's Pieces took the deal and had a huge increase in their sales. Exxon paid $300,000 for its name to appear in Days of Thunder. Pampers paid $50,000 to be featured in Three Men and a Baby. Cuervo Gold spent $150,000 for placement in Tequila Sunrise.
I have the feeling that the computers used to animate iron man probably ran oracle. I am not sure as to how/why as I remember oracle being a database program. As for who pays who, I would imagine that marvel might get a discount from their next software purchase, or some free liscences etc.
