Question about the Google AdWords Keyword Tool

    This is a nice tool:

    https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordSandbox

When I check the KW webbdesign I get the following list:

    # webbdesign
    # webbdesign skolan
    # sökmotorvänlig webbdesign
    # svensk webbdesign
    # jw webbdesign

The last point "jw webbdesign" is the name of my company. The only person that has searched on that word is me, when I check a few things. I never got any visitor from that query.

Does this then confirm that this tool is ordered by Google search queries? If this is the case then it must be better than OVT or WT, as the data is straight from Google and not Yahoo etc, no?

Yes the adwords data is direct from Google, where else would you expect it to be from though?

No, I thought that maybe it was taken from adwords spendings and not SE queries.

I am just surpriced that I have seen Overture and Wordtracker (and the DP tool that you see both) been mentioned maybe a thousand times but never this.

And many times I have read people stating that overture and wordtracker is not accurate as the data is not from Google - but never this tool has been mentioned.

Anyway, for me it is strange. I am glad I found the tool.

I think it is new like 1 or 2 months old. Not very sure as keywords are usually generate offline.

Jim - interesting. A few questions and comments for clarification please.

    I could not replicate this.

Did you do as one or two words?

    Did you select "All Languages?"

Did you select "All countries and territories?"

Out of curosity, as I've been seeing some "off" AdSense too, would you mind clearing all cookies, dump your Internet files (offline too) and try the query again? I'd be very interested to see if you get different results after doing so.

»NEVERMIND« I just saw that you had two "b"s in the query and was able to replicate ... feeling rather blonde at the moment, please be kind ;)

    Here's the list I got:

    webbdesign
    svensk webbdesign
    jw webbdesign
    webbdesign skolan
    sökmotorvänlig webbdesign

I'm a great fan of the digital point keyword suggestion tool. The fact that you can instantly see the Wordtracker and Overture results really helps to clarify keyword selection.

Hmm, that would explain it. I saw the link on the statcounter site.

Yes, but if this adwords tool is what I think it is - measure of Google SE queires - than it is like 10 times better. Why measure yahoos results when you can have Googles?

The only thing missing is the numbers ...

Yes, numbers would be a HUGE plus, but not likely they'd ever give that up for any number of paranoid reasons ... for one, it may scare some advertisers away from going after too small or too large of a KW. However, I do think they list them in the order of frequency searched.
