I've read somewhere that if you have some advertisements (banners, google ads, etc.) on your website, directory owners are less likely to approve the website with advertisements. People say that you can always add the advertisements after your site has been accepted by the directories. Does anyone have different opinions about this? I apologize if this has already been discussed in DP. Thanks,
A directory owner is very likely to reject MFA. Thats a site created with the sole purpose of Adsense monetisation in mind. They often have low quality content and the amount of adverts outweigh the content.
If you have ads on your site it is ok. If your site is all about AdSense or any other ad service, then you'll get rejected. Also if you place the ads abusively after you got approved, you dunno when the admin or the visitor reports you, the situation might get shitty for you. Keep the number of ads decent and you'll be ok. Guaranteed!
A certain amount of ads on your website is fine to many directory owners, after all you will also see ads on some directories, as already mentioned and others will mention, its when the ads begin to take over, plastered all over the page and very little useful content. Theres no particular amount seen as ok, it will vary for each directory and owner, i think it depends on things being presented well too, well blended non intrusive, non pop up ads, relevant ads also are not such a bad thing. Any decent directory owner will understand that you are just trying to monetise your site, just the same as the directory is too.
You need to look at what would be left of your website if you removed all of the advertisements, and what your ratio of adverts of content is on most pages. There are no agreed thresholds, but in general the more adverts you place, the more rejections you can expect.
According to market report- the online advetsing market is worth $40 billion right now. Isn't why Microsoft/Google/Yahoo are fighting for? Every webmaster aims at earning $$ though his/her site -except ofcourse non-profit sites. And one can earn money online either by selling products/promoting affiliates or direct advertsing. So it is natural that websites will have advertsing on them. Hence, my persoal view is that, it does not matter which advertisment you offer/have -- but to me I look for sites with quality and regularly updated contents on a site that could be useful to the visitors before I list a site. Cheers.
I only accept sites that have value to them. If they have some brief text and lots of ads, they get rejected and refunded. If they are a high quality site that has a small amount of advertising, I accept them based on the quality of their content. This is just how I run my directory. Remember the quality of the directory is based on the sites that get listed in them. What is your long-term plan for your directory?
so.. it's all true right, that content is a king? no matter how many ads would be placed in a site, if the sites are full of unique and useful contents that it is okay for the directory to list them right?
In my case, I wouldn't accept MFA sites as well as sites with non family-friendly advertisement, like casino, poker etc. Sites with too many ads and less content are more likely to get rejected by most of the high quality dirs.
I would ask about my new blog but my status prohibits me from doing so. I have 3 adblocks on the sidebar and only 2 is now occupied with ads. Would it be difficult to get into the directory lists? both of the ads are webhosting ads.....
No, your stretching the point there, I think the general consensus is that ads are fine within reason, if you go over the top your likely to get penalised for it.
As long as good content in your website,Directory owners would not have problem, but a site made solely for the purpose of ads will not only be rjected in directories, but also in search engines. Regards
I guess, in my sites, ads are just a decoration because at the moment I'm still not focusing on revenue generating sites (from ads I mean).
