    Hello all,

I am new at blogging and yesterday was the first time my blog received a lot of traffic from StumbleUpon. In about an hour I received approximately 150 visitors from StumbleUpon. However, since then I have received no traffic. The page that experienced the traffic was a page that I posted several weeks ago. How does StumbleUpon decide when to deliver your page to others? What makes it stop sending it?

If the people who visit it, give your pages a thumbs up and a review, you'll receive more traffic. Also, it depends a lot on the person who Stumbles. Are they well connected in StumbleUpon? Lots of friends watching the sites they review, etc.

    That's about it.

If your content is interesting, people will continue to stumble and you will get more traffic.

Stumble traffic are good. they tend to have a high conversion rate of becoming regular readers if your blog is interesting.

Very interesting how you got a burst of traffic from stumbleupon. I don't get it either. I thought stumbleupon was bringing traffic little by little.

You will always get a little something from Stumble in the future.
What you need is one or two VERY good blog or forum postings, and the traffic will come in waves.

People hitting the "I like it" button on their toolbar. It then goes to all their friends or people who have the same interests as them or something.

If I'm the first one to submit a page and it goes into a popular category I usually get a quick burst of 200-500 visits. If some of those thumb it up then it can snowball into thousands. It dies off rather quickly, but the traffic can trickle in for months. My account is rather solid, though.

When it comes to conversions, it depends on the page. People visiting my genealogy blog from SU convert GREAT! They also add comments and I usually end up with several new back links from other blogs. Entertainment sites don't seem to do as well, though. Just depends on the audience.

If you want to make your account more "established" I would suggest submitting a lot of "new discoveries" and making some friends. That seems to have worked for me.

Stumbleupon doesn't send constant traffic. There's so many sites out there that what's popular now is replaced by another few sites an hour later. Plus you need to work out which tags to use for your content. And you've got to keep on feeding stumbleupon. Build up a network of users that are interested in your content. Make friends with them, join related groups, etc. It's not good just tagging pages and leaving it.

Stumbe traffic doesn't convert very well, but it is somewhat targeted and my results show that stumble traffic has lower bounce rates and higher page views than the average page viewer.

You will only keep getting traffic to your page if a good majority of the people looking at it keeps voting it with a thumbs up. If they stop or don't do it enough, then you will stop getting traffic or your traffic will just drop considerably.
