Question about SEs and forwarded domains/subdomains

Google doesn't give PageRank value to domains/subdomains that are forwarded to another web-site/page.

If a person registers a domain, in example, www.mysite.co.sr (that is actually a subdomain of www.co.sr), it forwards you to wherever you choose (wherever you have web-hosting, in example, to www.mysite.com/forwardeddestination).

Since Google won't credit www.mysite.co.sr as it's a forwarded domain/subdoman, when I build inbound links to www.mysite.co.sr, regarding PageRank, does Google credit my end destination site www.mysite.com/forwardeddestination or www.co.sr where I registered subdomain?

Also, will Google valuate less subdomains of my own web-site, in example, www.abc.mysite.com in compare to www.mysite.com/abc, as www.abc.mysite.com forwards me to my web-sites' hosting www/abc/ folder? If I build in bound links to www.abc.mysite.com, will Google credit overall www.mysite.com the same as if it is www.mysite.com/abc? Thanks

I don't know what kind of redirect. The site co.sr offers free domains, good thing is that you can also have cool name like football.co.nr and such.

Just, since all .co.nr subdomains are forwarded to another location, thus Google won't assign PageRank to football.co.sr.

If I work on making inbound links to football.co.sr, will PageRank value be credited to:

    1) the site where I forward football.co.sr, in example, to www.mysite.com/football

2)or, the inbound links to football.co.sr are credited to www.co.nr site where I registered subdomain football.co.sr.

Just one more question on the same subject.

Do sub-domains divide the value of in-bound links into two considering that the sub-domains is http://subdomain.site.com (without www. ) and the site is http://www.site.com (with www. )?

I ask that since the value of in-bound links is divided into two when using http://www.site.com and http://www.site.com.

I would work on building in-bound links for http://site.com to make it equal with http://subdomain.site.com but as http://subdomains.site.com leads to /www/site.com/subdomain that is a www.site.com/subdomain address, I'm no sure if I'll be building in-bound links for http://site.com and http://www.site.com/subdomain which will divide in-bound links into two!? Forwarded addresses can confuse!

    Hi,

I asked this same question of myself before and after a little research at http://searcheginewatch dot com and http://searchguild dot com I found out that search engines see subdomain.maindomain dot com and maindomain dot com/folder as two different domains. Meaning you would have to build inbound links to both in order for both to move up in the SERPs.

When you add a /folder to your maindomain dot com you are actually adding more content to your maindomain dot com site. Thus, if you built inbound links to your /folder domain name your maindomain dot com name would move up in SERPs.

As for the forwarding bit. I have a domain name that I use to forward. It was protouchonline dot com, and it was being forwarded to a site I built a long time ago and have since shut down but is still in the SEs, protouch.citymax dot com. This was a auto detailing business I used to run. After link building to protouchonline dot com, it moved its way up in 3rd spot behind protouch.citymax dot com. So yes, you can link build to your forwarding domain, and it will move up in the SEs. However, I'm not sure about the PR of the forwarded domain as I never checked it out.

For more information a good search term for this topic is:

    "subdomain vs folder"

Hope this helps you out a little.

Google sees www.mysite.co.sr and www.co.sr as almost different sites.
Almost because in the matter of PR and SERPs they are seen totally different, but in case www.co.sr is banned or something, www.mysite.co.sr will be also banned.
About the redirection thing, it all depends on how it is done, some free service could do hidden stuff and take your PR while a clean 301 should be fine.

There always seem to be issues with forw. domains and SEs, the site I registered with www.co.nr, similar to www.co.sr, I did not notice until recently that Google AdSense does not count page impressions when someone visits www.mysite.co.nr that forwards you to www.mysite.com where I have web-pages with Google AdSense. That makes www.mysite.co.nr of little use.

I'd have to ask the last question on the subject: at my hosting, there is www/ folder where I place web-sites, within it I made a folder named mysite.com, making it www/mysite.com/

When I am making sub-domains, subdomains.mysite.com, I forward it to /mysite.com/subdomain, there are similar cases when I use /mysite.com/ folder. Is this making my web-site be http://mysite.com? Should I rename the folder to /www.mysite.com/ making it www/www.mysite.com at my hosting or it's the same as www/mysite.com/?
