Question about running hosting site that offers free hosting.

I was just wondering if anyone knew how to make it possible to offer free hosting accounts, but make it where when you make a free account with cpanel, you can automatically install ads on their site, on all pages they make, at the bottom? Is this even possible to do? If so please let me know. I think it would be more of a pain to go and manually add banners on people's sites, after they make a site. I am sure there must be something out there that will do it. Please give me all suggestions.

    Thanks!

You can look into using mod_layout module for Apache, though I've read it's not compatible with suPHP (must be using DSO). I've also heard of "iPanel" installing over top of cPanel/WHM allowing you to do this, though I believe it is a paid solution.

Yes, it is very possible, particularly using the tools elicitservers mentioned.

You have to remember though that most people are not willing to sign up for a hosting service with ads, since there are literally thousands of free hosts who don't have ads. You better be offering something real unique if you're going to post ads, otherwise nobody is going to be interested.

WSWD hit the nail right on the head there as far as ads are concerned. People wont signup for an ad driven hosting service, when there's plenty of ad free alternatives.

I've seen quite a few free hosting companies that offer very limited free cpanel accounts. Like 0 addon domains, 1 subdomain, 1 database ect ect. People signup for these free accounts and realise they hit their limits pretty fast. They then have the choice of looking for a new host, or just upgrading to your much higher limits paid plan.

Maybe you could do something along those lines, instead of forcing ads on people :)

I don't think people will sign up for such free web hosting accounts. There are lot of web hosts offer free web hosting without ads. But there are few web hosts for free adult web hosting. You can promote such free hosting for adult sites, within the legal frame.
