Question about RSS

I'm new to RSS.. I have been using it in a site for a year, just for linking to another news site..

I have some articles in my site, and I want them to be unique..

If I offer a public RSS Feed, is there any rss reader that can copy their content, and use in other sites ?

RSS Feeds are just links to your news ?

Is it a good technique, offering public RSS Feeds (for blogs and other sites) with your daily articles ?

many people use RSS feeds to check the updates without actually going to the site itself all the time. so use it if you update your site often or make posts often.

    What do you mean?

It sounds like he is asking for a script that will read rss feeds and make posts on his site... i think..

    Maybe I haven't been clear :)

I have a (yet small, but growing) content in my site, self-made, all unique and quality stuff.

So I wish to offer a RSS feed for this content to other webmasters, blogs, etc...

BUT, as I offer the feed, should I put only some few content (first lines then a link), or shall I put the entire articles ?

If I offer just the first few lines, will my RSS be shown in other sites (will webmasters like it) ?

I wouldn't like to have my content duplicated out there.

I got it what you are asking.

You are asking that you work hard and make articles. So would it be wise to give away that articles for free as RSS feeds to the other webmasters or not.

I would say why not put 2 or 3 lines and bring in the traffic to read more if they want. :)

Yeah. I have some sites on which I have to put some content and I have to link to the Full articles :( What to do. If the webmaster is so much worried about not linking to you then he will have to sacrifice the free content thing :D

free content from other sources without link to the full original is of no value to readers at all
fortunately RSS includes title and brief description and all linked automatically to the original site - hence if offers both
free content and a link to the source for full value-reference to interested readers.

typical RSS tools like zFeeder offer easy ways to cache remote RSS feeds to reduce remote server load and to have feeds included in your site by PHP SSI using a configurable CSS

if you wish to hand-make a feed - best is to use the firefox RSS editor to have an easy to maintain but fully validated RSS feed

if your site grows you find other tools that automatically create a new feed item for every post / file you pubish
for reference you may also have a look at the RSS howto
